India has become the country with the most tea in the world. Britain has gone down to having less then 10% of all the tea in the world. It used to buy 50% of the tea in the world. Germany drinks 1/7 as much tea as Britain, but pays the same amount for its tea. This is simply because Germany's tea is better. Worldwide tea production averages perhaps three billion pounds. That is only half a pound of tea per person per year. All the tea in China was once classified by the Imperial Tea Bureau, whose job never ended since with the constant addition of new teas, their classification system became progressively more complicated, resembling a vast Chinese puzzle. China is to tea, what France is to wine.
